Lions Sports Academy Overview

Founded in 2016, we believe in providing opportunities that inspire children and young adults to realise their potential through participation in sport and physical activity.

We do this through three business areas, Sports Clubs and Camps, Schools and our Athlete Development Programme. The coaching is supported by our associate coaches network (Lions Coaches Network), boasting 120+ coaches from professional sportspeople to highly qualified and passionate coaches and university students.
Our goal is to expand and support the whole of the UK within the next 5 years.

Overall Purpose of the Job

To manage the Lions Coaches Network (LCN) and be responsible for recruitment, operations and logistics to ensure all services are functioning with a high-quality service that meets the expectations and needs of customers and clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Job

These will evolve over time but the main areas of focus, to begin with, will be:

  • To recruit, maintain and develop coaches within the LCN using best practice safeguarding and recruitment processes.
  • To keep detailed up to date records of all the coaches within the LCN
  • To work with the in-house sales and marketing team and clients to recruit the best coaches for each opportunity.
  • To keep track of all operational costs and ensure associate coach invoices are approved in a timely manner.
  • To organise, deliver and recruit new coaches into the LCN using our tried and tested taster session process.
  • To document, update, maintain and improve recruitment and operations processes for the business to recruit and maintain high-quality talent.
  • To ensure correct and up to date records are kept on the CRM
  • To maintain business gross profit margins at all times
  • To keep coaches in the network engaged through regular calls, face to face and run periodic social gatherings
  • To send a monthly newsletter to LCN
  • To successfully implement a coaches mentoring programme
  • Termly (12 week) observation of coaches in the LCN to ensure high quality of service is provided
  • Acquiring DBS checks for coaches where necessary.
  • To equip coaches in the LCN with all information relating to the business and services provided.
  • Ensuring all coaches adhere to Lions Coaching Agreement and are fitted with branded clothing.

KPI’s of the Job

These will evolve over time but initially, the main KPIs will be:

  • Gross profit margin
  • Operations to be confirmed in a timely manner
  • No. of taster sessions completed per year
  • No. of coaches recruited per taster
  • No of successfully recruited coaches
  • No. of monthly coaching observations

Key Reporting/Stakeholder Relationships

  • Weekly reporting to the CEO
  • Weekly meeting with Sales and Marketing

Key Qualifications, Skills and Experience (Essential)

  • Passionate about sport
  • Ability to lead teams effectively
  • Must be able to make difficult decisions in the best interest of the business
  • Be resilient and an effective problem solver
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in operating systems for scheduling, recruiting and CRM
  • Excellent relationship builder
  • Show initiative
  • Superior problem-solving skills – adapt to an ever-changing environment and react quickly to overcome challenges
  • Driving licence
  • Exceptional attention to detail

Key Qualifications, Skills and Experience (Desirable)

  • Level 2 qualification held in at least one sport
  • Degree in sports or business
  • Superior planning skills – stays ahead of the game and future plans are clearly laid out for the team to follow
  • Previous work in the sports industry
  • Previous experience in business management, operations or project management
  • Recruitment experience

Salary: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
